Job Description

The ideal candidate is a skilled professional that is passionate about delivering quality care and making a real difference.


Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and determine their appropriateness for a rehabilitation program
  • Determine the level of skill necessary based on the patient’s condition and motivation level
  • Design a treatment plan focusing on the major impaired functions presented and/or patient goals
  • Communicate with the patient their role in the program, HEP, etc
  • Complete documentation appropriately and timely
  • Render procedures appropriate to your skill level and forward to others as appropriate
  • Delegate non-skilled tasks (patient-related or non-patient related) to proper support staff
  • Effectively manage your patient and directly oversee all tasks and treatments
  • Assess comparable signs with each patient each visit and communicate progress with the patient
  • Meet with the patient for progress/re-evaluation to determine whether the program requires progression, regression, suspension, or discharge
  • Effectively determine the discharge visit and complete a formal discharge with every patient
  • Participate in marketing and administrative tasks as needed


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctor's degree of an accredited physical therapy curriculum
  • Certification in Physical Therapy and valid state license to practice

Part-time Physical therapy assistant

Job Description

The ideal candidate is a skilled professional that is passionate about delivering quality care and making a real difference.


Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage your patient and directly oversee all tasks and treatments 
  • Complete documentation appropriately and thoroughly by end of day
  • Meet regularly with an evaluating therapist to recommend whether the program requires progression, regression, suspension or discharge
  • Provide proper education materials so patient may understand condition
  • Always communicate with the evaluating physical therapist and document the status of the patient
  • Participate in marketing and administrative tasks as needed
  • Be a leader in team training meetings, organizational meetings, quality assurance sessions, and help foster growth of others
  • Assist administrative staff, and provide any info/assistance they need for proper daily operations
  • Offer ideas and suggestions to make protocols and clinic processes more efficient

  • Hawaii license required

Q: How long did it take you to become a PT?

This is one of the most common questions that are asked in our clinic and MOST people are surprised at the answers:


  • Bachelor's Degree: (4-5 Years) in any degree although most P.T. school applicants will major in a science related field such as Kinesiology or Athletic Training.
    • Prerequisite Courses and observation or job shadowing hours are required and are different for each PT school you apply to in addition to your Bachelor's degree.

  • GRADUATION from PT School
    • All PTs graduate with their Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) indicating the highest graduate level degree in this field.


  • PTs are Clinical Doctors meaning they have advanced courses and clinical experience in the area of neuromusculoskeletal examination, treatment and movement assessment .


  • National Board Exam
    • All PT school graduates MUST pass the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) .
    • 250 question examination on all topics covered in Physical Therapy SchooIf you don't pass, you are only allowed to retake the test up to 3 times in a 12-month period and ONLY 6 times in a lifetime.


  • State Licensure
    • Each PT Doc is required to pass a state license exam or jurisprudence exam in order to practice in that particular state.
    • Each state's exam is different and reviews the Practice Act of that particular state (what you can and can't do).


PT Docs or Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPTs) spend between 7-9 years in college (undergraduate and graduate) and 3-4 clinical rotations in different settings under the supervision of licensed PTs as their Clinical Instructors before they are even eligible to take the national board exam.
